What Does This Upgrade Give a Tiguan Owner?

Replacing the original analog-style instrument cluster with a digital instrument cluster changes one of the parts of the vehicle that the driver looks at every time the car is used.

For an older Tiguan or Tiguan Allspace, this type of retrofit can give the dashboard a much more modern appearance without replacing the vehicle's complete interior.

But this is not simply a display that is fitted into an empty space. The instrument cluster communicates with the vehicle's existing electronics, which is why compatibility checking, correct installation and technical support matter.

1. We Checked the Actual Vehicle Before Shipment

The customer first provided the main vehicle information: 2018 VW Tiguan Allspace, 240 PS diesel, automatic transmission.

We did not confirm compatibility only because the vehicle was described as a “2018 Tiguan.”

The customer was asked to send clear photos of the original instrument cluster and dashboard. Those photos allowed us to review the real vehicle configuration before the order was prepared.

After checking the original setup, the vehicle was matched with the VW Tiguan 2017–2022 Digital Instrument Cluster .

2. The Digital Cluster Fitted the Tiguan Allspace Correctly

After the product arrived in Germany, the customer installed the new digital instrument cluster in the vehicle.

The cluster fitted correctly and powered up in the Tiguan Allspace, confirming that the version selected during the pre-order check matched the customer's vehicle.

For this type of Volkswagen instrument cluster retrofit, the original instrument-cluster PCB/mainboard is retained and installed inside the new assembly.

This is an important part of maintaining the relationship between the vehicle and its original instrument-cluster data.

3. A Warning Remained After Installation — Support Continued

After installation, the customer reported an Airbag/SRS warning on the instrument display.

The important point was that the digital cluster itself was already operating. The next step was therefore not to immediately assume that the new cluster had failed.

Our support process first focused on the installation:

• Check the original PCB/mainboard position.
• Confirm that the cluster connectors were fully seated.
• Check whether the vehicle had stored diagnostic fault codes.

This is where after-sales technical support matters. With vehicle electronics, a warning after installation can come from the installation process or from a stored vehicle diagnostic code rather than from defective hardware.

4. OBDeleven Identified and Cleared the Stored Code

The customer used OBDeleven to check the vehicle's stored diagnostic information.

The remaining SRS/Airbag warning was cleared through the vehicle diagnostic system. After the code was cleared and the vehicle was restarted, the Airbag warning disappeared.

The digital cluster did not need to be replaced.
